FRONT ROYAL, Va. (Gray DC) - King Charles III and Queen Camilla wrapped up the final day of their U.S. tour in Virginia on Thursday.

Thousands came out to downtown Front Royal to celebrate both America 250 and the royal visit. The event featured song and dance performances by Appalachian culture groups.

The king and queen visited Shenandoah National Park and experienced an all-American potluck during their stop.

Two royal fans who attended the event said the visit was significant for the community.

“We broke up 250 years ago and so now we thought it would be a good idea to get back together. This is huge for Front Royal,” Sarah Morey said.

The event spanned the entire downtown area. Attendees passed through Secret Service checkpoints, and officers were positioned on roofs to ensure security during the visit.

After Virginia, the pair heads to Bermuda, which is part of the UK Commonwealth.
