WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - President Donald Trump delivered a eulogy Tuesday for the late Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) at the National Cathedral. In his remarks, the president recalled a relationship that began as adversarial before becoming a decade-long friendship.

Trump acknowledged sharing Graham’s personal cell phone number publicly during the 2016 election after Graham made a negative comment about him.

“So naturally, I did something that I shouldn’t have done. I shared his personal cell phone number,” Trump said.

Trump said the incident marked a turning point between the two men.

“We became great friends, and Lindsey did not stop calling me for the next ten years,” Trump said.

Trump was one of three eulogists at the service, where Graham was remembered as a fierce friend and skilled politician.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu were among notable attendees, representing two countries and causes important to Graham during his Senate career.

Fox News host Sean Hannity also spoke at the service.

“Lindsey loved Israel,” Hannity said.

Graham’s body will return to his home state of South Carolina following the service. He will be honored there Wednesday.
