Pres. Trump makes his case to voters at unusual convention

DALLAS, Texas (Gray DC) - President Donald Trump used the first night of the Republican Midterm Convention to make the case that Republicans deserve continued control of Congress. With the midterm election less than two months away, Trump touted his accomplishments and worked on energizing his Republican base.

The party in power historically loses seats in the Midterms- but the president is trying to buck that trend.

President Trump was the keynote speech on the first night of the unusual 2026 RNC Convention in Dallas, Texas.

“So I’m asking you to pretend that I’m on the ballot. I’m on the ballot. I’m on the. Just one more time.”

President Trump said the November midterms should be a clear choice for all voters.

“The choice in this election is very, very simple. Democrats are asking you to vote for their failed far left agenda. It’s never work that destroyed your finances and delivered you four years of disaster, bedlam and death under Sleepy Joe Biden. And I’m asking you to let us finish the job. We began with the greatest two years in the history of the presidency.”

In a surprise campaign promise, the President promised a rebate to voters - but only if Republicans hold on to Congress

“If the Republicans win the House of Representatives and the United States Senate, both of them, because of our economic tremendous economic success like in history, we’ve never had anything like what’s happening. But because of our tremendous strength and success economically, I will issue a dividend to every adult citizen in the United States of America for $5,000.”

But that campaign promise may be premature. Republicans are facing major challenges with the President’s low approval ratings, high gas prices and high prices at the supermarket. Democrats were quick to note that the $5,000 promise would cost the federal government over $1 trillion, at a time when the federal government deficit tops $40 trillion.
